The Lucky Ones Know Exactly What I Mean
^When I went out to take pictures today I was looking basically at bigger things that kind of stood out. On my way back in the house, I noticed this little abandoned yellow flower. I know that a lot of people take pictures of flowers, and they have become some what of an over used object, but none the less, they're still really pretty.
But as a "photographer," I don't feel as satisfied when I take pictures of flowers. I mean, all in all, the art was mostly done by God, I'm just capturing it with a camera.
What I liked about this one particular flower though was the fact that it stood all alone. It was the only one flower among a field of grass.
It survives and shines with its yellow beauty, while being all alone. We should learn to capture this ability and use it in our own lives. - Surviving alone that is.

"A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell."
-C.S. Lewis
I think, at least from my own perspective... that I'm getting better at focusing my camera. Still a long way for me to go, but I'm getting there.
I love when it's 75 degrees outside.

Hi Sarah, came over from Anna's. You have some nice work here. Keep at it and you will do good.
These were so nice to wake up to Sarah...I love each one. The flower shot is lovely....I feel the same way you do about capturing them....they almost seem cliche....but in reality, I love a challenge to capture them a way someone hasnt seen them before. I am always drawn to THAT flower...the one that is in solitude...nice capture there!
I am in awe of the beauty that is found in community and fellowship....not just with believers but with unbelievers as well....as I have gotten older (BTW, I am NOT that much older), I have come to realize how much God's provision is shown to me through those He has placed directly in my life....with absolute purpose. Does any of that make sense?
Great quote by Lewis. :) Glad you are back again!
Have a relaxing Sunday? And where has Dan been?!?!
God for you is where you sweep away all the mysteries of the world, all the challenges to our intelligence. You simply turn your mind off and say God did it.
Compare earth to the whole vastness of the cosmos. Try to convince yourself that God created the whole Universe for one of the 10 million or so species of life that inhabit that speck of dust. Now take it a step further: Imagine that everything was made just for a single shade of that species, or gender, or ethnic or religious subdivision. If this doesn't strike you as unlikely, pick another dot. Imagine it to be inhabited by a different form of intelligent life. They, too, cherish the notion of a God who has created everything for their benefit. How seriously do you take their claim?
In some respects, science has far surpassed religion in delivering awe. How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, "This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. God must be even greater than we dreamed"? Instead they say, "No, no, no! My god is a little god, and I want him to stay that way."
The total amount of suffering per year in the natural world is beyond all decent contemplation. During the minute that it takes me to compose this sentence, thousands of animals are being eaten alive, many others are running for their lives, whimpering with fear, others are slowly being devoured from within by rasping parasites, thousands of all kinds are dying of starvation, thirst, and disease. It must be so. If there ever is a time of plenty, this very fact will automatically lead to an increase in the population until the natural state of starvation and misery is restored. In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. The universe that we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but pitiless indifference.
Many of us saw religion as harmless nonsense. Beliefs might lack all supporting evidence but, we thought, if people needed a crutch for consolation, where's the harm? September 11th changed all that. Revealed faith is not harmless nonsense, it can be lethally dangerous nonsense. Dangerous because it gives people unshakable confidence in their own righteousness. Dangerous because it gives them false courage to kill themselves, which automatically removes normal barriers to killing others. Dangerous because it teaches enmity to others labeled only by a difference of inherited tradition. And dangerous because we have all bought into a weird respect, which uniquely protects religion from normal criticism. Let's now stop being so damned respectful! A belief in God is fucking insane!
Wow unixclan...I will be praying for you.
Mike, thank you! I'm really excited to continue this "photography journey" I have ahead. Thanks for stopping by!
Anna, you remind me of the Paula from our American Idol. You truly know how to share all the positive comments. And you totally made sense. :)
Unixclan , we've been through this numerous of times. I'll continue to sometimes debate this matter with you, but we already have established our beliefs. You're more than welcome to contradict my own, but realize, our proofs differ and our conclusions will still be differ.
Thanks for stopping by John!
will still be different** ah!
You know that I'm American...I just happen to be living in London...I am a southern girl! :) BTW, I loved the maturity of your response to the above comment. Very classy.
Sarah,
Thanks for adding me to your links, I really appreciate that.
Great images. I like your quote about shining wherever you are. Very good.
I want to offer some further encouragement to you. I'm a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. I am this because I believe what the Bible says about there being "no way to the Father" except through his son, Jesus Christ. This is why I believe. As far as what was said above, "God must be even greater than we dreamed", YES, He is! I believe that's a revelation that Christ want's us to realize, that "YES", He is bigger than our imaginations can handle. God's word (The Bible) backs this up. He's bigger and more powerful than anything and yet, He sent us His son, Jesus, that we may have a personal relationship, one on one, at our level, with the creator of the endless universe.
Yes, there are many religions in this world, but as Acts 4:12 says, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be Saved."
The truth of Christ can only be revealed to those who "believe" that He is who He said He is and follow His teaching in His word (the Bible).
That's what separates the Christian from other religions, it's "Christ". The "Life" you find in Christ that convinces you of this, has to be experienced first hand. I can not convince a person of this, only the spirit of God can...and He wants to.
Everyone believes what they want, I'm just sharing Hope giving truth that I myself have been convinced of.
